The Commission represents all veterans in Stanislaus County by advising the Board of Supervisors and County staff generally on matters pertaining to veterans, holds informal public meetings, provides the public with information, and receives comments relative to veterans’ issues.

Bi-Monthly meetings are held on the 4th Monday at 5:30pm. Meeting are held at 3500 Coffee Rd, Ste-15, Room 114 in Modesto in the months of January, March, and November. Veterans Advisory Commission Mission Statement:

“To honor and empower the Veterans of Stanislaus County by advocating for their needs, providing access to essential services, and fostering a supportive community. We are dedicated to ensuring that every Veteran receives the recognition, care, and opportunities they have earned through their service, while promoting a culture of respect, resilience, and civic engagement.”

The Commission consists of seven (7) members appointed by Board of Supervisors:

  • 5 Representatives of Supervisorial Districts (1 per district) AND
  • 2 Public Members-At-Large –nominated by Chair and Vice Chair
  • Members of the Commission shall be residents of Stanislaus County and honorably discharged veterans of the Armed Forces of the United States.

  • 2 Year Term for District Representatives
  • 1 Year Term for Members-At-Large
  • Commission members are subject to a limit of ten consecutive years of service on the Commission. Former members of the Commission who have termed out may be reappointed to a vacant seat if two years have passed since the expiration of their final term.
