Do NOT turn on the pump!
There is a danger of electrical shock and damage to your well or pump if they have been flooded.

Do NOT use well water!
People drinking or washing with water from a private well that has been flooded will risk getting sick.

The Stanislaus County Household Hazardous Waste Facility is open to households on Friday and Saturdays from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. from September through May.

NEW SUMMER HOURS: Fridays and Saturdays from 7:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. from June through August.

Important Schedule Change Notice:

Due to extreme heat, the Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) Facility will open at 7:30 am and close early at 11:00 am on Friday and Saturday, July 5 and 6.

On Friday and Saturday, July 12 and 13, the HHW Facility will open at 7:30am and may also close early at 11:00 am, depending on the temperature forecast.”

2024 Holiday Closures of the HHW Facility are as follows:

  • Thanksgiving Weekend: Friday, November 29th & Saturday, November 30th

If you are a non-profit agency or business generating Hazardous Waste up to 220 pounds and classified as a Very Small Quantity Generator, you are only allowed to bring the wastes on Wednesdays by appointment-only. Please call 209-525-6700 to check your qualification and appointment availability. HHW facility will not accept wastes from VSQG non-profit agencies or businesses on Fridays and Saturdays.

Department staff is composed of dedicated professionals who skillfully interface with local, state and federal agencies to administer a comprehensive environmental protection program.

The department is headed by the Director of Environmental Resources and is comprised of two Assistant Directors, administrative staff, and seven separate divisions. Each division is led by a program manager.
